Hassel Island Tour
Tours fill up quickly, so we recommend reserving early!
A minimum of 2 guests is required to book our boat captain, with space for up to 10 guests per tour. This is perfect for an intimate, personalized experience.
Your adventure begins at the St. Thomas Historical Trust Museum on Raadets Gade. From there, you’ll be picked up by boat along the Charlotte Amalie Harbor waterfront and enjoy a short, scenic ride to beautiful Hassel Island, located at the western edge of the harbor.
Once a peninsula of St. Thomas known as “Orkenhullet” this remarkable 135-acre island is now preserved by the National Park Service in partnership with the St. Thomas Historical Trust. We are proud to offer the only guided tour of Hassel Island in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Led by knowledgeable, trained guides, you’ll explore key historic sites that showcase the island’s Danish and British colonial past. Highlights include the Garrison House, Prince Frederick’s Battery at sea level, Cowell’s Battery, and the Signal Station which is the highest point on Hassel Island at 267 feet above sea level, offering stunning views.
The hiking trails are rated a moderate 3 out of 5, making the tour accessible for most guests. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and we encourage you to bring plenty of water and sunscreen. The experience lasts approximately 2.5 to 3 hours and promises history, scenery, and unforgettable moments.
